Why The
Half-
Hour
Homestead?

Do you have or do you know someone who has a homestead and nothing really gets done on it?
That was me! I also happened to know some people who were in the same boat. you wait all week thinking, "Oh, I can get this done this weekend!"  But the weekend never went as planned, thus nothing was ever completed, or even seeing much progress.
So I came up with a less than brilliant idea to try to help me keep on track. That one didn't work. After a couple more failures and a bit of refinement, I gave up and came up with a very simple Idea...
Just do a little something EVERY DAY!
This one actually started working and that is how the basis for the Half-Hour Homestead was born.

Half Hour Philosophy

HHH Principle #1
Half-Hour Each Day!

Spend a Half Hour a day doing something to improve your homestead!
It is that simple!
The trick is to do all your chores for the day first. This one is the key, do NOT neglect your chores.
To begin, your Half Hour can be used to  build infrastructure such as gardens, fences, animal housing, greenhouse, cold frames, etc.
As you progress and your chores take more time, you should shift your Half Hour toward projects that make your life easier, such as a larger or automatic water system for animals and gardens, larger feeders that keep unwanted rodents out so you have to feed less often.

HHH Principle #2
No Days Off!

There are NO days off when you are a homesteader.
If you have a homestead, then you know that you have daily chores and some of those chores are 7 days a week.
So why not add that Half Hour to all 7 days!
You will get enough days off because of weather and other obligations, that you will get sick of when you could have gotten something done that would have saved you hours every week!

HHH Principle #3
Schedule Everything!

Schedule EVERYTHING??
Yes, Everything.
It does not have to be a by the minute schedule, it can be as simple as:
1) do your morning routine
2) go to work
3) get home from work
4) eat dinner,
5) do you chores for the day
6) do your Half Hour of improvement
7) free time; spend time with family, doing a hobby, hanging out with your pet
8) nightly routine

Do not overcomplicate it!!

HHH Principle #5
Keep Records

Keep track of all the stuff

HHH Principle #6
Build a community

Yeah, find some friends

HHH Principle #4
Lists are your friend!
